Joking of course, I have some more stuff scanned that I'll have to upload in a few days xD
Anyway, this is my glorious return to being SOMEWHAT active instead of completely inactive. Enjoy the new arts.

After three weeks spent over in California (and then one more week of lazing around back home) I'm checking back in here again. Still no art to upload, because I've only been doodling small stuff not worth my time scanning, but oh well. It's also exam season over here, so don't expect miracles. I'm planning on making a triumphant return after that though (I've failed to deliver before, don't hold your breath).

Anyway, finally spending some time with my girlfriend in person was fun, even if it was only for such a short time. America never really registered as away from home, but I guess I can blame that on the plane rides. You're in place A, then you're in a box for 20 hours, then you're in place B, excuse me if the 10k kilometer distance didn't exactly register. Oh well.

So yeah, still alive over here, hopefully with something to prove that with next time I log in. Oh yeah, and happy new year and all that.

What have you guys been up to?

Um... Well.

I've been missing for a bit over half an year, maybe 7, 8 months? Yeah, I could make excuses about how exam season before summer was really rough and I needed a break, or how i wasn't in an art mood, or how I STILL haven't installed art software on my new laptop since I got it in March this year, but I think I'm a bit beyond excuses at this point. To be fair, no one really bothered to check on me either though, so I think I wasn't too missed, haha. Still, I hope y'all are alright and well.

Anyway, about the lack of art updates (the primary cause of my temporary abandonment of dA) , I haven't actually DONE much. I have a lot of doodles, some actually pretty good, but none of them have been scanned and they're scattered all over the damn place. And aside from not having a good scanner, i lack the aforementioned software that I usually better my stuff with after using aforementioned bad scanner. So yeah, not a very productive year art wise xD. Still, I'd like to upload some batches of stuff at least before Christmas because of reasons i'll touch upon in a bit.

College is... well, college, what can I say. I'm a second year mathematics student now and we're learning some pretty damn exotic stuff. Like, one of my classes touched on carbon dating of all things in pretty great detail, for Christ's sake. Interesting stuff. I'm in midterm season right now, so I still have to study more than I'm usually willing to, heh.

As for not being a very artsy year not meaning that I have been doing NOTHING, I guess I've just been sort of enjoying other stuff? I've been gaming a lot in the summer, and watching a lot of gaming related anime towards summer's end. Can anyone tell me why Sword Art Online has such a rabid fanbase? It's neither as overrated nor as good as everyone makes it out to be, it was pretty mediocre to good-ish if you ask me. other than that i've watched Log Horizon, Overlord, No Game No Life which kinda sucked and Accel World, which was actually pretty good. As for non gaming anime I watched Clannad cause it was recommended and I must admit it got to me at some moments, I watched Gate, which I really recommend cause it's an inversion of the "stronger civilization invades the protagonist's weaker one and he wins with pluckiess and friendship" trope and it's done rather well in my opinion. What else... I can't recall any more now, but I'm sure there were others. Oh, well.

And as for actual gaming, well it's been mostly either 2014-2015 stuff or really retro stuff. A prime example for the former would be The Witcher 3, which really really impressed me, I cannot stress how much I liked that game enough. Some people who have bothered to read my older journals may remember that my favorite game ever forever is Gothic 3 because of it's large, alive world and it's really ahead of time organic quest system. Well, The Witcher 3 gave me a very Gothic 3-like feeling, and because of that it left me with a very good impression. I also recently got the first major expansion, though I haven't gotten around to play it yet. Truth be told, I played the entire Witcher series this year, and I must say, The Witcher 2 is very badly overrated if you ask me. The game world is significantly smaller and the story is half as long as that of the first game, which I enjoyed more. As far as controls go, both the first and second games had kinda fucky gameplay mechanics but oh well. The important thing is, the third game left me with the best impression it could. When they say it defines next gen, don't be skeptical.

Other recent games I've played are both full edition Dark Souls games, playing cooperatively with my brother, because we fucking love those games. Also, in preparation of the upcoming third and (hopefully) last installment next spring. I'll be kinda disappointed if they don't end the story, I don't want the series to turn into Assassin's Creed. On the topic of, Unity was utter rubbish. The historical character was a watered down copy of the much better Ezio and the game added literally NOTHING to the overarching story. "Hey we need you to search something in the past via the Animus, oh damn it's in too bad condition, you just wasted everyone's time including yours, too bad". NOT GOOD, UBISOFT. Rogue was much better though, if a bit short. I enjoyed Assassin's Creed Rogue. I hope Syndicate won't be more stalling, cause if it is, I'm giving up on this series. After the massive fails that were 3 and Unity, I can't take another one as a fan.

I've also replayed the two Starcraft II campaigns in the last three weeks, in anticipation of the third and last campaign coming out in a bit over a week. I'm really excited for that, I'm a big fan of the story so far. Also, it's the Protoss expansion, and they're my favorite faction to play as. I may spam photon cannons, carriers and tempests, and it may be cheap, but i'll be damned if I care xD my brother usually covers for me early to mid game til I amass my gamebreaking army, but that's what coop is about, right? I never said I'm a GOOD player.

As for retro games, well I've already mentioned the first witcher game. I've also finished Breath of Fire 2 on the gameboy advance cause I loved the first game some three or four years ago when I played that. I must say, the second one is noticeably weaker. I've recently started the third game on playstation one, and I want to play the entire series because I've read about what 5 did to marry gameplay and story, and I'm really intrigued. Curious whether they did it right or fucked it up. Another old game I've played this year was, or rather were, more or less all warlords and warlords battlecry games. the former are turn based strategy, while the latter are real time strategy. Warlords Battlecry 3 was my first ever real time strategy game and I am rather fond of the old thing. I also tried to play The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, but either I'm not a good gamer or the game has not aged well, because the damn thing is fucking unplayable. I just can't get into it, I don't care how much praise it gets.

Oh yeah, also Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Playing the two back to back, I must say that Fallout 3 was the stronger one. New Vegas had its moments, and I liked what they were going for with the reputation system, but it was just ind of... soulless, I guess. Also samey after having gone through Fallout 3. I'm not too hyped for Fallout 4 cause it seems to be falling into the sandbox trap of let's add as many features as we can. Maybe the new first person sims thing with house building will turn out good, I don't know, but I'm skeptical at the moment. Speaking of first person sims, you kinda do the same thing in Ark: Survival Evolved, but at least that's a survival game, you're SUPPOSED to build yourself a shelter there. That does NOT excuse the terrible, terrible, HORRENDOUS loading times. I's so poorly optimized I'm willing to say Gothic 3 only had a few minor bugs on release in comparison. That tells you guys nothing, but if you find the very rare human specimen that is a Gothic fan, they'll tell you Gothic 3 on release had bugs up its damn ass. never mind the optimization problems, it still makes modern machines CRY TEARS OF UTTER DESPAIR. And Ark survival is worse.

Anyway, enough game talk. What I wanted to say about uploading stuff before Christmas, is that if I don't do it, there's not much of a chance you'll see anything from me this year, cause I'll be hella busy during the holidays. The reason for that is, I my non-immigrant American Visa has been approved, I've booked airplane tickets, and if everything goes well, I'm coming to America, California on December 18th.

HEAR THAT GUYS? I'M COMING TO AMERICA!

Obiously it's primarily so I can finally meet up with my girlfriend in person, but if any of you guys are in the vicinity at the time and want to meet up, I'll see if I can't somehow make that happen. No promises, I am horrible at planning anyway and this trip is way beyond me.

But yeah, wish me good luck on that front.

I think that's all I wanted to rant about for now. I might try to be more active, but once again, no promises. And by active, I mean occasionally write another journal. Just to let you guys know that I'm alive.
